International Expansion & eVTOL Milestones
EHang EH216-S Compleumes First Crewed Flight in Latin America (亿航智能EH216-S完成墨西哥及拉丁美洲首次载人飞行)
On May 1, 2026, EHang (亿航智能) announced that its flagship EH216-S autonomous passenger eVTOL aircraft received flight permission from the Mexican Civil Aviation Authority (AFAC) and successfully completed its first crewed flight in Mexico and Latin America. The flight took place at Tulum International Airport, with Air Mobility CEO Cristina Lara becoming the first woman in the region to fly in an autonomous passenger eVTOL. This milestone paves the way for future commercial operations addressing transportation needs in popular tourist destinations. [1]
Domestic Expansion & Technological Breakthroughs
China’s Low-Altitude Economy Continues to Expand (我国低空经济持续“扩容”)
The application of UAVs across China is rapidly expanding into various sectors. In Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang, agricultural drones have become the primary tool for spring farming, increasing efficiency by 20 to 30 times compared to manual labor and reducing costs by 15%. Meanwhile, in urban centers like Shenzhen, Meituan’s drone delivery network has completed over 780,000 orders across 70 routes by the end of 2025, demonstrating the growing integration of low-altitude logistics into daily life. NUAA Wuxi Institute Co-Develops China’s First Megawatt Hybrid Power System (南航无锡研究院参与研制的我国首型兆瓦级混合动力系统联试成功)
The Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) Wuxi Research Institute, in collaboration with Shanghai Electric Group and the China Gas Turbine Establishment, has successfully developed and tested China’s first megawatt-class aviation hybrid power system. This high-speed turbine generator system fills a critical gap in domestic high-power aviation electrical systems, providing essential technological support for the future of green aviation and large-scale eVTOL aircraft. Taiwanese Youth Find Entrepreneurial Success in Shenzhen’s LAE (低空经济浪潮托举台青创业梦)
Shenzhen’s booming low-altitude economy is attracting young entrepreneurs from Taiwan. Lin Zhihao, founder of Shenzhen AnTG Aerospace Technology, successfully developed the AnTG One, Asia’s first ultra-light pure electric single-person flying go-kart. Benefiting from Shenzhen’s comprehensive UAV supply chain—which accounts for 70% of the global consumer drone market—and supportive local policies, the company has already secured 500 orders from the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
