Daily Brief - 05/12/26
Round-up of the most critical robotics & LAE news from the past 24 hours
Robotics
Beijing establishes a new data training center to accelerate embodied intelligence. Meanwhile, Luming robotics secures nearly 1 billion RMB and Vbot completes its Pre-A.
Commercialization & Ecosystems
Beijing Shijingshan Establishes Humanoid Robot Data Training Center (北京石景山)
The Shijingshan district in Beijing has announced the establishment of a dedicated data training center for humanoid robots. This facility aims to provide the massive, high-quality datasets required to train embodied AI models. By centralizing data collection and processing infrastructure, local authorities are actively supporting the rapid iteration of robotic capabilities, addressing one of the primary bottlenecks in humanoid robot development. Funding & Investments
Luming Robotics Closes Back-to-Back A1 and A2 Rounds, Cumulative Funding Near 1 Billion RMB (鹿明机器人)
Luming Robotics (of Tsinghua) announced the consecutive completion of its A1 and A2 funding rounds, bringing total cumulative funding to nearly 1 billion RMB. Both rounds were led by Mitsubishi Electric’s China industrial automation subsidiary. The funds will go toward developing Luming’s full-body embodied large model and expanding its industrial deployment scenarios. The company’s strategy is to use real-world factory deployments to generate large-scale robot training data, creating a data flywheel toward general embodied intelligence. [2]
Vbot Completes Pre-A Round Funding (微动Vbot)
Service robotics startup Vbot has completed its Pre-A funding round. The company focuses on developing intelligent service robots for commercial environments. The successful fundraise indicates that single-purpose service robots continue to present viable business models and attract investor confidence in the Chinese market. [3]

LAE
In the office, LAE gets its official bureau of 30; in the lab, we have breakthroughs in hydrogen-powered UAVs; and in the sky: a 500kg payload capacity eVTOL.
Policy & Regulation
CAAC LAE Bureau Formally Approved (民航局低空经济司)
The central government has officially approved the establishment of a dedicated LAE bureau within the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), with a staff of 30. This new bureau will focus on the practical implementation of industry regulations, including airworthiness certification for UAVs and eVTOLs, low-altitude flight safety oversight, and airspace management. This move establishes a “dual-core” management structure, with the NDRC handling high-level planning and the CAAC managing operational regulation. [1]
Technology & Deployments
Breakthrough in Hydrogen-Powered UAV Technology (氢能无人机)
Chinese researchers and engineers have reported a significant breakthrough in hydrogen fuel cell technology for UAVs. The advancement promises to substantially increase the flight endurance and payload capacity of drones compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. This development is particularly crucial for long-range inspection, logistics, and emergency response. [2]
Feixing Shidai Delivers First F2500ERF Range-Extended Full-Tilt-Rotor eVTOL (飞行时代)
Feixing Shidai has completed the rollout and delivery of the first aircraft in its F2500ERF series — a range-extended, full-tilt-rotor eVTOL with a maximum takeoff weight of 2.5 tonnes, a 500 kg payload capacity, and a fully loaded range of 500 km. The F2500 series combines extended-range hybrid power with full-tilt-rotor technology, targeting air transport, low-altitude logistics, and emergency rescue applications. Following delivery, the 001 aircraft is moving directly into flight testing, while the 002 aircraft is already in production and approaching rollout. The company completed its seed and angel funding rounds in late March, with cumulative financing exceeding 50 million RMB. [4]
