Funding & Industry Deployments
Sudu Technology Reaches ¥13.6B Valuation in 11 Months (苏度科技)
Sudu Technology, founded only in May 2025, completed a $500 million Pre-A funding round last month, pushing its valuation to 13.6 billion yuan. The round saw participation from Alibaba, Tencent, CATL, Hillhouse Ventures, IDG Capital, and Blue Lake Capital. The company’s core technology is the Sudo R1 system, which uses a 3D world model and reinforcement learning to train robots entirely in simulation, claiming a near-100% zero-shot success rate (i.e. without any extra real-world training). Sudu is setting up a 10,000-unit production base in Shanghai Lingang and plans a B-round in the second half of 2026. [1]
Small aside: 苏度 is a bit of a play on words, as 速度, meaning speed, is pronounced the same (just with a different tone on “su”). Looks like they’re living up to the name so far!
Safety & Standards
Embodied AI Dangers Highlighted at Chengdu Conference (具身智能安全)
At the 8th C3 Security Conference in Chengdu, researchers demonstrated the remote hijacking of a commercial robot dog. The compromised robot pup silently activated its camera, attacked mannequins, and then collapsed. 360 Group founder Zhou Hongyi warned that in the era of embodied AI, code vulnerabilities translate directly into physical danger. Likewise, Li Binbin, a senior engineer at the China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, emphasized the importance of improving the perception and management of real-world challenges, so that the industry can move beyond its current “strong body, weak mind” stage (躯体强、大脑弱). LAE
Guangdong takes the top spot in the 2026 China LAE Development Index, boasting over 2,000 aircraft manufacturers. Volant Aviation is making moves to become the “first LAE stock” with a STAR Market IPO filing. On the human side, UAV technicians are becoming one of the fastest-growing new professions in the country.
Industry Data & Infrastructure
Guangdong Leads 2026 China LAE Development Index (低空经济发展指数)
A joint report by the CAS Institute of Geographic Sciences, CAAC, and Peking University ranks Guangdong first nationally in the LAE Development Index. The province hosts over 2,000 LAE aircraft manufacturers, while controling 70% of the global consumer drone market and 50% of the industrial drone market. Shenzhen is operating the nation’s first urban air traffic operations center and plans over 100 eVTOL landing pads. EHang’s EH216-S, the world’s first aircraft with all four major certifications, is going international with flights in Mexico, Thailand, and Qatar. [1]
SASAC Pushes Central Enterprises on LAE Development (国资委)
The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) held a special meeting to incorporate the low-altitude economy into the “Industrial Renewal Action” for central enterprises. The CAAC projects the LAE market will reach 1.5 trillion yuan by 2025 and 3.5 trillion yuan by 2035. By the end of 2025, China aims to have 513 general aviation airports and 46 low-altitude flight service stations covering 23 provinces. [2]
Funding & Markets
Volant Aviation Files for STAR Market IPO (沃飞长空)
Sichuan Volant Aviation (Aerofugia), controlled by Geely’s Li Shufu, has filed for IPO counseling registration with the Shanghai STAR Market, aiming to become the “first LAE stock.” The company completed a 1 billion yuan funding round in February 2026 led by CITIC Securities. Their core product, the AE200 series 6-seat tilt-rotor eVTOL, has over 1,000 intent orders. However, they still have some regulatory hurdles to clear, one of those being its TC, which they hope to obtain by the end of 2027. [3]
Yunzhu Zhihang Completes ¥100M+ Series A (云枢智航)
Anhui Yunzhu Zhihang Technology secured over 100 million yuan in Series A funding, backed entirely by provincial and municipal state capital. The funds will support eVTOL and special UAV research and development, production line construction, and LAE ecosystem building. The company broke ground on its full-scale prototype production base in November 2025. [4]
Workforce & Labor
UAV Technician Emerges as Fastest-Growing Profession (无人机装调检修工) 🧑🔧
The rapid deployment of drones by logistics companies like JD, SF Express, and Meituan has created a severe shortage of maintenance personnel. Hangzhou has listed UAV assembly and inspection technicians in its 2026 Skills Shortage Occupation Directory, increasing training subsidies by 30%. Shenzhen is allowing senior technicians to use this certification for household registration. With over 12 million civilian drones registered nationally and fewer than 1,100 compliant repair shops, experts project a talent gap of 3.5 million UAV technicians over the next five years. [5]
